SEDATION DENTISTRY

Our team of professionals offers a variety of sedation and sleep dentistry services. Sedation doesn’t always involve putting you to sleep. Depending on the type of sedation used, you may still be conscious and able to follow your dental surgeon's instructions while in a calm and relaxed state.

Dental sedation services provided include:

  • Oral sedation

  • IV Sedation

Oral Sedation

Oral anxiolysis tablets may be used to help manage anxiety before your dental procedure. These tablets, taken prior to your appointment, may have a calming effect.

In some cases, oral anxiolysis tablets can create a mild amnesic effect where patients may not recall parts of the dental procedure. Our professional team will guide you on the appropriate dosage and administration based on your personal circumstances and medical history.

IV Sedation ("Twilight")

Intravenous (IV) Sedation (also known as twilight and conscious sedation) is an anesthesia method that makes lengthy and complex dental or oral surgeries comfortable and manageable, while preserving the patient's natural reflexes and ability to breathe.

It alleviates anxiety, stress, discomfort, and awareness of the procedure. Patients experience a soothing and pleasant light sleep while still being able to breathe independently, respond verbally if needed, and retain their protective reflexes.

After you are sedated, a local anesthetic will be administered to ensure a pain-free experience Following the procedure, patients will have a monitored recovery period until they are ready to be discharged into the care of a responsible adult.

Our dental surgeons work with AHPRA registered Anaesthetists and Conscious Sedationists, within the comfort and convenience of our clinic.
